Our Team
Mike Johnson
Founder/ Owner/ Mad Scientist/ Designer.
Originally born and raised in southern Louisiana, Mike ran off to join the military at a young age. After an honorable discharge in 2007 and meeting his future wife, he moved to New York City and built a long, successful career in private security and executive protection. In 2018 he returned to the Department of Defense as a civilian, providing security for military installations — most notably the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Yeah, that West Point. It was around that time Mike rediscovered a long-dormant creative spark and decided to pursue formal training in design, attending the Academy of Art University to study architecture. Three years later, Mike and his lovely wife Annie left New York and settled in Browns Summit, NC.After a few more years and a healthy dose of curiosity (plus a touch of mad-scientist flair), Mike launched Sketch Your Etch Design Company LLC — a veteran-owned small business that brings custom logos, monograms, and personalized etching to everything from metal business cards and steel tumblers to slate coasters, cutting boards, and glassware. From security pro to creative owner, Mike’s mission is simple: craft memorable, beautifully etched pieces that tell your story. With a vision for building something meaningful, our founder brings a blend of big-picture thinking and hands-on experience. He set the tone for everything we do at Sketch Your Etch Design Company: disciplined, detail-driven, and a little bit quirky. Whether we’re etching a corporate logo on a metal business card or personalizing a set of slate coasters, Mike’s leadership ensures every piece carries purpose, pride, and precision.

Emperor Jack Dalton Esq. Cattorney at Paw
Jack’s origin story, as recounted by his official biographer Karrin Murphy—Pawalegal/Intern/Little Sister (titles official, per Jack)—reads like a noir kitten tale.
Born on the mean streets of Poughkeepsie, New York, in 2018, young Jack insists he was scooped up by “some strange people” and abandoned at the animal shelter, where he was apparently indoctrinated into the feline legal system. At five months old, Jack says he was liberated in a daring rescue by his daddy (see: owner of the company). The paperwork politely lists “adopted,” but Jack is clear: the truth is far more dramatic.
After repatriation, Jack spent the following year attempting the impossible—befriending his spicy older sister, Angie MacGyver. In a historic first, he became the only cat she would honestly tolerate. At two years old, Jack staged his next great rescue: he “liberated” his own kitten, Karrin Murphy (despite Murphy’s own report that Mom and Dad found her in a garage at seven weeks old). Jack raised Karrin as his very own; they became inseparable confidants. He even defended “HIS Kitten” from Angie, who—according to Karrin—kept prancing about claiming, “I never tasted kitten before.” Jack negotiated a peace treaty between them that held until Mac sadly passed away in 2025.
Jack didn’t stop at Karrin. He’s fostered several other kittens who’ve gone on to happy forever homes, including fellow feline staffers Nova and Apollo. Focused, approachable, and results-driven, Jack’s priorities are simple and nonnegotiable: ensure the food is plentiful (mainly so he can sample it), and make sure the owner takes regular breaks in the office—preferably for maximum snuggle allocation.
Official title: Chief Comfort Officer, Snack Inspector, and Defender of Kittens. and noir kitten legend.
